We hear again today from Kelly Curll and Kendra Craig of the Fayette County Health Department as we talk about the Teen Pregnancy Prevention Program. The program has been ongoing at Fayette County schools for the past 12 years, and begins with students in 5th grade and works it’s way up to older students and different topics—such as teen pregnancy and sexually transmitted diseases. During the time of the program, both teen pregnancy and STD’s have seen a rapid decline. But, due to the program working, that has reduced the “high risk” status for the county and the program has lost it’s grant funding. But, they are trying to raise funds locally to keep it going. Kelly Curll says the program has a lot of personal meaning for her.
Curll and Craig say that they would love to get donations of any amount from anyone in the community that would be willing to help them keep the program going. If you would like to donate to the program, you can contact Kelly Curll or Kendra Craig at the Fayette County Health Department, or you can also contact Administrator Rhonda Andrews.
