Topsoil moisture is declining in several parts of the state as we hear in the weekly crop report. Precipitation was below normal, at under half an inch last week. That left average statewide topsoil moisture at 6 percent very short, 32 percent short, 61 percent adequate and 1 percent surplus. Crop State Statistician Mark Schleusener provides a crop update.
31 percent of soybeans are blooming and five percent are setting pods, which is about par with last year. 66 percent of the soybean crop is rated in good to excellent condition, down from the previous week.
