(Chicago, IL) — The Illinois State Board of Elections is refusing to comply with a request from the Trump administration for voter information. Board attorney Ken Menzel explained the decision in a letter to the Presidential Advisory Commission on Election Integrity. He said state law protects the confidentiality of voter information and limits its release to political committees and government entities that will not release it to the public. Menzel added that President Trump’s effort to validate his claim of massive voter fraud by illegal immigrants doesn’t fit the state’s criteria for access to voter data.
