(Chicago, IL) — Illinois House Speaker Michael Madigan is indicating the Democrat budget plan will be ready for discussion among the leadership Tuesday. House Republican leader Jim Durkin says they’re ready to negotiate, but some non-budget issues are still key. He says they want good faith from Democrats on workers comp and pension reform and a property tax freeze. Madigan says it will be up to GOP lawmakers to persuade Governor Rauner to accept compromises on those issues if they want a deal by the end of the week deadline. In addition, Madigan has his own non-budget demands, including a Rauner signature on a school funding reform plan.
