(Chicago, IL) – The federal judge hearing the case against former U.S. House Speaker Dennis Hastert said this week he’d be happy if the two sides reached a plea agreement and he wants an update in two weeks. Hastert’s accused of lying to the FBI about bank withdrawals that violated currency laws. A plea agreement would block the public from hearing more about the past conduct Hastert was allegedly paying hush money to keep secret. That conduct reportedly involved sexual encounters with a student when Hastert was a high school wrestling coach.
