May weather in Illinois was a little cooler and wetter than normal. Statewide Average rainfall last month came in at 5.2 inches—and much higher in this area and some others in the state. State Climatologist Jim Angel says even the average amount was well above normal.
The average statewide temperature for May was 62 degrees, which is 6 degrees below normal. Angel says some areas hit the 90s last month while others fell below freezing.
