A Vandalia woman charged with injuring her infant child is set to make an appearance in Fayette County Court today. 24-year old Aubree Hammer is scheduled to appear in court for a pre-trial hearing which was reset after it was announced during a March 29 appearance that the expert conducting an evaluation of Hammer had requested more time to conclude the evaluation and report coming from the evaluation. The delay in the case was charged to the defense. It is expected that any currently pending motions in the case will be discussed during today’s appearance. Hammer is alleged to have injured her, at that time, 3 ½ month old baby in February of 2016 and is charged with the offense of aggravated battery to a child under the age of 13 with great bodily harm or permanent disability, which is a Class X Felony and is punishable by 6-30 years in prison. Bond for Hammer is set at $1 million and she currently remains in the Fayette County Jail.
