The Illinois Senate will have the first opportunity to consider a balanced state budget plan that could end 2 years of stalemate and do so without putting the burden on Illinois taxpayers. The Taxpayer Bargain Budget plan, sponsored by State Senators Kyle McCarter and Dan McConhie, was introduced Wednesday. Senator McCarter says the plan is a package of 18 legislative measures.
The Taxpayer Bargain Budget includes major government reforms to cover public pensions, unfunded mandates, regulation and welfare. It includes greater flexibility for smaller communities and a property tax freeze. Hearings for the budget plan have not yet been scheduled.
