Next week, April 24th thru 28th, has been proclaimed as Distracted Driving Awareness Week in Illinois, and the Vandalia Police Department and Fayette County Sheriff’s Office are participating in the awareness next week. Fayette County Sheriff Chris Smith says the issue of distracted driving is a bigger problem than ever.
And, Vandalia Police Chief Jeff Ray says the use of cell phones while driving is a major problem that just continues to grow.
There will be enforcement of applicable state distracted driving laws in this area and throughout the state next week to raise awareness. We’ll talk more coming up on Monday during NewsCenter.
