A state pilot program aims to get more computers into the hands of Illinois school children. The state is turning over old government computers to the non-profit group, Computer Banc in Springfield, which refurbishes them for use by students. Governor Bruce Rauner says all kids deserve to have access to technology.
142 computers have already gone out to a few school districts and the YMCA in Springfield. The next round will include more than 2,000 computers for schools and groups for a small fee.
