While the Illinois Senate continues to move forward on efforts to pass the “Grand Bargain” budget, State Senator Kyle McCarter is continuing his opposition. The Democrat controlled Senate passed three measures Wednesday that are part of the proposed budget deal. Senator McCarter told colleagues the budget plan is neither grand nor a bargain.
While McCarter says there are some positive reforms in the package of legislation, such as local government consolidation, the good is tied to the bad and the ugly—which is in the form of higher new sales and income tax increases.
