(Springfield, IL) — Hunters in Illinois bagged fewer deer last year. The latest numbers from the Illinois Department of Natural Resources came out late last week. DNR officials say hunters brought in just over 144-thousand deer in all four hunting seasons in 2016. That’s down from 155-thousand deer the year before. As for Fayette County, there were 1501 deer taken during firearm season, 654 in archery season, 63 youth and 43 muzzleloader for a total deer harvest in Fayette County of 2261 deer.
