A man indicted on federal charges last week for the October 7, 2016 bank robbery of Midland States Bank in Farina is a supposed serial bank robber having allegedly robbed what is believed to be a total of eight banks, mostly in Indiana. Fayette County State’s Attorney Joshua Morrison said he was alerted last month that an individual, 48-year old Samuel Gregg of Indianapolis, who might have been involved in the Farina robbery was in custody. Morrison says it was the belief of the investigators that the man in custody in Indiana was involved in the robbery in which the suspect entered the bank and demanded money. The suspect then fled the bank on foot. According to various media outlets in Indiana, after his arrest in October, Gregg allegedly confessed to robbing a total of eight banks spanning a time period of about 15 months beginning in July 2015. The eights robberies are said to have taken place in Indianapolis, Jeffersonville, Shererville, Terre Haute and Farmersburg in Indiana and the one in Farina.
