(Springfield, IL) — The son of late Illinois Comptroller Judy Baar Topinka is suing for his mother’s pension contributions. The “State Journal Register” reports Joe Topinka filed a lawsuit last week in Sangamon County Circuit Court. He’s seeking more than 60-thousand-dollars worth of contributions his mother made to her state retirement system while serving as comptroller. The General Assembly Retirement System already ruled that no refund is needed because Topinka was paid more in retirement benefits than she contributed to the system.
