(Oakland, CA) — The Oakland Fire Department fears that up to 40 people may have died in an overnight warehouse fire that killed at least nine people. The Alameda County Sheriff’s Office says the death toll might be in the dozens. Authorities say 25 people are still unaccounted for one day after the fire ripped through a two-story warehouse during a dance concert. Firefighters have not been able to search the entire building because they say it’s too unsafe.
>>Green Party To Pursue PA Recount In Federal Court
(Harrisburg, PA) — Green party candidate Jill Stein is vowing to continue her fight for a statewide recount in Pennsylvania. A statement from the Green Party says “it has become clear” that the state court system is, quote, ill-equipped to address the problem, and that, “we must seek federal court intervention.” The Stein campaign says it will file for “emergency relief” in federal court Monday, “demanding a statewide recount on constitutional grounds.” Stein is also seeking statewide recounts in Michigan and Wisconsin.
>>Huge Crowds Pay Last Respects To Castro
(Santiago) — Mourners by the thousands gather in Santiago, Cuba to say goodbye to Fidel Castro. A motorcade carrying the ashes of the dead dictator arrived at Revolution Square, where crowds gathered Saturday to pay their final respects. The presidents of Venezuela, Bolivia and Brazil were among the world leaders attending the ceremony. It was the final public event before Castro’s ashes are buried today in a private ceremony. Castro died last week at the age of 90.
>>Duterte: Trump Wished Philippines Success In Drug War
(Manila) — The president of the Philippines says Donald Trump is wishing him success with his controversial war on drugs. Rodrigo Duterte says he spoke on the phone with Trump Friday, and that the president-elect told him he was going about the drug fight, quote, “the right way.” Duterte has been critical of Washington since President Obama expressed concerns over extra-judicial killings of suspected drug dealers in the Philippines.

(Undated) — Conference championship Saturday is over, and multiple teams anxiously await their postseason fates. Top-ranked Alabama steamrolled number-15 Florida, 54-16, to lock up the SEC Championship. Third-ranked Clemson survived number-23 Virginia Tech, 42-35, to win the ACC title. Number-seven Penn State took the Big 10 title, 38-31, from sixth-ranked Wisconsin. The College Football Playoff Selection Show airs at noon eastern time Sunday on ESPN. The Bowl Selection Show will follow at 4:00 p.m. on ESPNU.
