The Vandals will host their first playoff game in 4 years this afternoon as they will take on the Tolono Unity Rockets. The Vandals finished the regular season 8-1 and won a share of the South Central Conference. But, with Class 3A especially loaded with good teams this season, the Vandals do get a tough first round draw. Tolono Unity went 7-2—losing to Decatur St. Teresa 27 to 0 in week one and losing to Monticello 52 to 36 in week four. Tolono Unity is making their 23rd straight appearance in the playoffs and they are coming off a 2nd place finish in Class 3A last year. For the Vandals, not only did they win a share of the SCC they also defeated two teams who came in undefeated (Hillsboro was 5-0 when the Vandals defeated them, Pana was 7-0 before the Vandals defeated them) and also beat Greenville for the first time since 1999. Game time for this afternoon is set for 2 pm. We’ll have the pre-game for you about 10 minutes before the game on 107.1 FM WKRV, available streaming at www.vandaliaradio.com and also on the Vandalia Radio App.
