The Vandals (8-1) will host Tolono Unity (7-2) in the first round of the playoffs. Vandals Coach Jason Clay says he’s happy to be hosting.
The Vandals were the #7 seed in the 16 team grouping of downstate teams in Class 3A. So, it took Friday night’s win for the Vandals to get a first round home game. For Tolono Unity, they went 7-2 in the regular season-suffering a 27 to 0 lost to Decatur St. Teresa in a non-conference game in week one and losing to Monticello, 52 to 36, in a conference game in week 4. Tolono Unity will be making their 23rd straight appearance in the playoffs. For the Vandals, this is their 12th appearance all time and their 7th in the last 11 years. The game will be at 2 pm on Saturday afternoon at Mark Greer Field.
