(St. Louis, MO) — Jaime Garcia gave up five early runs as the Cardinals lost 7-4 to the Athletics at Busch Stadium. Garcia got through seven, but fell to 10-and-10 with the loss. Matt Carpenter went 3-for-4 with his 17th homer of the season for St. Louis. Khris Davis and Stephen Vogt homered for Oakland.

The only run scored on a fielder’s choice by Adrian Gonzalez in the eighth. Trevor Cahill took the loss. The Cubs host the Pirates starting tonight.
