(St. Louis, MO) — Brett Eibner’s sacrifice-fly in the eighth brought home the winning run as the A’s slipped the Cardinals, 3-2, in St. Louis. Max Muncy’s RBI-groundout tied the game earlier in the frame for Oakland, which tied the three-game series at one apiece. Daniel Coulombe picked up the win and Ryan Madson secured his 26th save. Matt Bowman was charged with the loss for the Cardinals. Randal Grichuck homered in defeat. St. Louis is 68-and-60 on the year, but just 30-and-36 at Busch Stadium.
(Los Angeles, CA) — The Dodgers came away with a 3-2 win over the Cubs in the second of a three-game series at Chavez Ravine. Julio Urias kept Chicago’s bats quiet, striking out eight over six innings of one-run ball to improve to 5-and-2. Kenley Jansen closed it out for his 38th save. Corey Seager hit his 23rd homer for Los Angeles, which ended a brief two-game losing streak. Anthony Rizzo and Jason Heyward each drove in a run in the loss. Jason Hammel fell to 13-and-7, giving up three runs on five hits and not making it out of the third inning. The Cubs had won their previous four.
