The Redbirds did pick up lefty reliever Zach Duke from the White Sox over the weekend. Teams that make trades now must first pass players through waivers.

(Chicago, IL) — Kyle Hendricks went the distance to lead the Cubs to a 5-0 win over the Marlins. Hendricks improved to 10-and-7 and lowered his ERA to 2.22. He also smacked an RBI single. Chicago’s Anthony Rizzo finished a homer short of the cycle in the opener of the three-game set. The second game is tonight at 7:05 p.m.
