It is now official, the LPN Program will end at the Kaskaskia College Vandalia Campus after December. The Kaskaskia College Board of Trustees last night voted to discontinue the Licensed Practical Nursing Program at the K-C Vandalia Campus and will now consolidate of their LPN classes on their new Nursing Education Center on the Main Campus. So, LPN classes in Vandalia will end after the fall semester in December. Kaskaskia College Board President Bill Hawley stated they are not abandoning Vandalia and they are certainly supportive of all they have done for the college. Hawley added that it’s simply a budget issue and not a vendetta on Vandalia or the people of Fayette County, they just had to take a hard look at every program. And, those that aren’t paying their way.
At a public meeting last week in Vandalia, a large crowd was on hand with community leaders and those from the health care industry, as well, concerned about the loss of the program in Vandalia. We’ll have more on the K-C Board meeting coming up tomorrow during NewsCenter.
