(Seattle, WA) — Adam Lind launched a game-winning, three-run homer in the bottom of the ninth inning as the Mariners walked-off the Cardinals, 4-3, at Safeco Field. Donn Roach tossed an inning-and-two-thirds out of the pen to pick up the win. Seattle snapped a six-game losing streak to get back to .500 at 37-and-37. St. Louis scored three times in the eighth to take the lead, but couldn’t make it last. Trevor Rosenthal allowed the walk-off homer in the ninth to take the loss and the blown save.
(Miami, FL) — Willson Contreras’ RBI single in the seventh inning pushed the Cubs past the Marlins, 5-4, at Marlins Park. Chicago jumped out to a four-nothing lead in the first thanks in part to home runs from Contreras and Kris Bryant. The Cubs snapped a four-game losing streak with the win. Miami tied it at four in the bottom of the first on a grand slam from Justin Bour. Trevor Cahill earned his first win of the season, and Hector Rondon secured the win for his 13th save. Mike Dunn took the loss for the Marlins, who had won two straight.
