(St.Louis, MO) — Derek Dietrich cleared the bases with a three-run triple in the fifth inning to lead the Marlins past Cardinals, 6-4, at Busch Stadium. Carlos Martinez fell to 12-and-5 after giving up five runs, just one earned, in five frames. Two errors from Kolten Wong led to four unearned runs. Jason Heyward launched a pair of homers and Stephen Piscotty left the yard as well for the Cards, who had won eight of 10 coming in.

The 33-year-old is on track to begin throwing off a mound early next month after completing his final day of 90-foot tosses. Wainwright has been out since late April after tearing his Achilles tendon.

(St.Louis, MO) — Cardinals outfielder Randal Grichuk will undergo an MRI on his right elbow today. Grichuk was forced to leave yesterday’s game against the Marlins early after experiencing tightness in the elbow. He is batting .286 with 15 home runs and 44 RBI in 84 games for the Cards this season.

(Chicago, IL) — Chris Sale matched a career-high with 15 strikeouts as the White Sox clipped the Cubs, 3-1, at U.S. Cellular Field. Dan Haren yielded all three homers in less than five frames to fall to 8-and-8. The Cubs saw their nine-game winning streak come to an end. Chicago is off before hosting the Tigers tomorrow in the first of a two-game series.
