The Vandalia City Council approved a TIF agreement with a long standing business to help with ADA compliancy improvements, however it was a narrow approval on the vote. The TIF request from Rusani Inc., which does business as the Chuckwagon restaurant, being voted would not be for the whole amount of the project, but the ADA portion to bring the restaurant within compliance as Mayor Rick Gottman explained to the council.
After a motion was made, discussion was held and alderman Kenneth Hubler questions the Chuckwagon representatives on hand as to why an engineering bill for the project was not approved the first time around.
After discussion, a roll call vote was taken with alderman Russ Stunkel, B. John Clark and Jerry Swarm voting in favor of the agreement while Hubler and alderman Joel Rebbe voted against the agreement with the motion to approve passing by a slim 3-2 margin. Aldermen Andy Lester, Mike Hobler and Dorothy Crawford were not present for the meeting.
