The Fayette County Board unanimously passed a resolution during its monthly board meeting Tuesday night to show support in reaffirming “In God We Trust” at the official motto of the United State. The Illinois Prayer Caucus Network and the Illinois National Day of Prayer has been contacting all 102 counties in the state asking for the county’s boards to approve a proclamation to show support in keeping the phrase as the national motto. The movement serves to also draw attention to the fact that this July 30 will be the 60-year anniversary of President Dwight Eisenhower signing a joint resolution to make “In God We Trust” the nation’s official motto.
