Mary Grace Crawford, 42, of Vandalia, passed away at 2:55am, Friday, June 3, 2016 at her home in Vandalia surrounded by her friends and family.
A Visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00pm, Tuesday, June 7, 2016 at Hohlt & File Funeral Home, Vandalia. Per Mary’s wishes cremation rites will be accorded. Mary Grace was born June 11, 1973 in Elk Grove, IL, the daughter of David and Judith (Bessler) Crawford. She attended Vandalia High School and completed a Bachelor’s in Elementary Education at SIUE; she chose to further her education and worked as a CNA at Fayette County Hospital LTC and to work in the in home healthcare field. She was a member of the National Road Interpretive Center and Vandalia’s Women’s Club; Mary Grace lived life to the fullest, she and friends would take trips to Dragon Con in Atlanta, GA the largest multi-media, pop culture convention focusing on science fiction & fantasy, gaming, comics, literature, art, music, and film. They would often host and attend grand costume balls. She was a brave and inspiring woman to many.
Mary Grace is survived by her parents David and Judith (Bessler) Crawford, daughter Alexis Anne Stuckwisch, brothers Andrew Crawford and wife Dorothy and Joseph Crawford and wife Candy, sister Susan Crawford, and 7 nieces and nephews and 1 great niece all of Vandalia.
