(Springfield, IL) — State lawmakers are talking about shifting to a standard of zero emissions for electricity produced in the Land of Lincoln. The Next Generation Energy Plan would focus on at-risk nuclear facilities in the state and jump-start solar energy development in Illinois with rebates, according to ComEd, which is promoting the idea. Plants that have insufficient revenue to cover operating costs would receive compensation.
