Michael Wacha allowed six runs, but only two of them were earned as St. Louis committed four errors in the loss. Aledmys Diaz went deep for the Cards, who saw their three-game win streak come to an end.
(Chicago, IL) — David Ross went 3-for-4 with a three-run homer as the Cubs crushed the Pirates 9-4 at Wrigley Field. Addison Russell and Kris Bryant also went deep for Chicago, which was coming off its first two-game losing streak of the season. Jason Hammel pitched six-and-two-thirds innings, giving up two runs on eight hits while striking out eight to improve to 5-and-0. Francisco Liriano was knocked around for eight runs in four-and-two-thirds frames to fall to 3-and-2. Andrew McCutchen went 3-for-5 with a two-run homer in the ninth for the Bucs, who fell to 0-and-4 against the Cubs this season.
