(St. Louis, MO) — Matt Carpenter drilled the two-run walk-off home run as the Cardinals stumped the Pirates, 6-4 at in St. Louis. Randall Grichuk tied it in the eighth with a one-run single before Carpenter ended it for good. Grichuk finished with three RBI, and Stephen Piscotty belted a homer as well. Trevor Rosenthal earned the relief win for St. Louis. John Jaso scored a run and plated one for the Pirates. A.J. Schugel was tagged with the loss after giving up Carpenter’s homer.

(Chicago, IL) — Addison Russell hit the go-ahead two-run double in the seventh inning as the Cubs rallied past the Nationals, 8-5 in Chicago. Ryan Kalish nailed a pinch-hit two-run single in the sixth before Washington tied it. Kris Bryant homered and Dexter Fowler had an RBI-triple for the Cubbies, who are an MLB-best 23-and-6. Adam Warren earned the win in relief. Ryan Zimmerman plated two runs for the Nats. Sammy Solis was tagged with the loss. The Nats need a win Sunday to prevent the four-game sweep.
