(St. Louis, MO) — Jayson Werth belted a three-run homer in the first inning as the Nationals blitzed the Cardinals, 6-1 in St. Louis. Werth’s dinger highlighted a four-run first inning. Joe Ross tossed six frames of one-run ball to earn the win. Daniel Murphy plated a run as the Nats take a 2-0 lead in the three-game set. Matt Carpenter’s sac-fly provided the only run of the day for the Cards. Jaime Garcia gave up four runs in six-and-a-third innings to take the loss.
