(Springfield, IL) — Governor Bruce Rauner says he agrees with Democratic Senate President John Cullerton that the state’s school funding formula should be reformed, but Rauner says it can’t be tied to the passage of a state budget. Cullerton says changing the formula should be done this year, and House Speaker Michael Madigan has appointed a bi-partisan committee to look at the issue. Rauner says he’s willing to work at changing the formula, but if it can’t be done by August, it shouldn’t hold up the budget or school funding for next year.
