The Halloween Parade is set for tonight in downtown Vandalia.
Tonight will be the 84th annual Vandalia Lion’s Club Halloween Parade running on Gallatin Street in downtown Vandalia. The theme for this year’s Parade floats and walking groups is “The Lord of the Rings” or “Harry Potter.” Lion Ardith McFarland will serve as the Grand Marshall of tonight’s parade. The parade will get started at the top of Gallatin Street hill at 7 pm.
Meanwhile, the Vandalia Police Department reminds everyone that all vehicles must be removed from Gallatin Street by 4 pm today to provide adequate space for parade floats, marching bands, farm equipment and other large vehicles to safely travel along the parade route. The Vandalia Police Department also asks all parents and caregivers to closely supervise their children throughout the parade. They ask that children safely secure candy from the curb or sidewalk.
