Voters in at least three Illinois counties are considering sales tax referendums.
Sales taxes would go up in Adams, Lake and Tazewell counties if voters approve the schools facilities tax.
Megan McCombs, Democratic candidate for Tazewell County board, said in a statement to The Center Square that she 100% supports the 1% tax increase, and that it could help reduce property tax increases.
Adams County GOP committeeperson Roni Quinn said Adams County Republicans oppose the 1% tax.
School districts in all three counties have faced questions about the alleged use of taxpayer resources to support campaigns for more taxpayer dollars.
