After the cancellation of Tuesday’s normal meeting date, the Fayette County Board held a short meeting with eight board members present on Thursday night at the Fayette County Courthouse and handled several items. The board pulled one item from its consent agenda for discussion and after conferring with Dustin Harmon from the county’s consultant Bellwether about procedure, approval was given to display the Fiscal Year 2027 Draft Budget by a vote of 7-1 with board members Scott Ray, James Wehrle, Joe Wills, Jacque Durr, Dan Lutz, Pat Click and Sean Hannagan voting “yes” and Mike Black casting a “no” vote. Four other items approved unanimously as part of the consent agenda included approving a resolution for a State’s Attorney Appellate Prosecutor, approving of a contribution to be made to the Economic Development Commission, approving the Ranger Power’s Stones Throw Surface Waiver and approving a mini-split for climate control for the Coroner’s Office.
In new business, two liquor license renewals were approved, one for the Shrine Club at Vandalia Lake and another for Hawg Diner in Vandalia. After a short discussion it was also approved for the board to send a letter of rejection for a request for conveyance and municipal assumption of the cemetery grounds of Browning Cemetery in Shafter Township.
