A Ramsey woman has been charged in Fayette County Court in connection with a break in on Tuesday morning at Cain’s Drug Store in Vandalia.
Vandalia Police reports indicate that officers responded to a report of a broken window at Cain’s Drug Store on North 8th Street in Vandalia at about 1:07 am on Tuesday morning. Upon arrival, the officer says they observed a visibly smashed front window on the east side of the building and a silver-colored wrench was lying on the ground next to the shattered glass. Officers soon after had a female in custody. The female was identified as 22 year old Daylee D. Jackson. Vandalia Police then secured the building to make sure no other individuals were in the building. And, after speaking with individuals with Cain’s, they learned that all controlled substances were secured in a safe and appeared undisturbed. And, they also did not appear to have any missing items at that time.
Jackson was taken into custody by the Vandalia Police Department and taken to the Fayette County Jail. In Fayette County Court on Tuesday, Jackson was charged with one count of Burglary, which is a Class 2 Felony. And, also with one count of Criminal Damage to Property between $500 and $10,000, which is a Class 4 Felony.
In Fayette County Court, Jackson was released but will have GPS monitoring. She will next appear with counsel on November 10th at 10 am in Fayette County Court.
