The Vandalia City Council has approved the final plat for the RaceTrac travel center that will be coming to the west interchange in the location of the former Wal-Mart. During Monday night’s Vandalia City Council meeting a motion to approve the final plat was put forth and when discussion was opened up, alderman Bret Brosman questioned the RaceTrac representatives present at the meeting if there would be a barrier between their property and the residential neighborhood adjacent to the property to the east.
Alderman Andy Lester questioned if putting a tree line was a possibility could be considered and the RaceTrac representatives said they were not opposed to looking at an idea like that. Following the short discussion, the council approved the final plat by a vote of 7 to 1 with alderman Brosman casting the lone dissenting vote.
