(Springfield, IL) — Illinois is one of the highest binge drinking states in the US. According to data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance System, Illinois ranks seventh with a binge drinking rate of nearly 20-percent. The study examined the age-adjusted binge drinking rates across all 50 states, ranking them based on the most recent available data and calculating the average annual change in binge drinking rates over time. The data was collected between 2011 and 2023.
