(Springfield, IL) — State law enforcement officials are releasing the results of this summer’s Illinois Speed Awareness Day. The single-day crackdown on July 22nd resulted in nearly 4,000 speeding tickets issued and hundreds of arrests. One-hundred-sixty agencies took part in the event that netted 3,795 speeding citations, 35 DUI arrests, 211 traffic arrests, and 140 other arrests. Illinois Speed Awareness Day started ten years ago, in 2016, focusing on reducing speed and raising awareness.
