Virgil L. Williams, 70, of Brownstown, IL, passed away Friday, September 04, 2026 at his residence.
Per Virgil’s wishes, cremation rites will be accorded. A Graveside Service and Interment will be held at 4:00 PM, Tuesday, September 15, 2026 at Pilcher Cemetery, rural Brownstown with Rev. Virgil Lee Williams was born on August 27, 1956, in Vandalia, Illinois, one of five children born to Ernie and Ellen Lucille (Durbin) Williams. On December 20, 1975, he married Marilyn Faye Forbes. Together, they shared 50 years of marriage and raised two daughters.
Virgil was a graduate of Brownstown High School. He went on to dedicate 30 years of his career to the Illinois Department of Corrections, serving as a correctional officer at Vandalia Correctional Center before retiring.
Virgil had a deep love for music of all kinds and enjoyed playing the guitar. He loved riding his motorcycle, gardening, mowing the yard, and building things. He was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone who needed it. Above all, Virgil cherished the time he spent with his family and friends, especially his fellow “river rats,” with whom he shared countless good times and lasting memories.
Virgil will forever be remembered by his wife, Faye Williams; daughters, Sabrina Santandrea and Samantha (Corey) Wall, all of Brownstown; brothers, David (Bobbye) Williams of Vandalia and Rick Williams of Brownstown; sister, Crystal (Kenny) Lape of Brownstown; grandchildren, Quinton (Amanda) Logan, Tresten Wall, Jacob Wall, Cameron Wall, Blayne Santandrea, and Theodore Santandrea; his soon-to-be great-granddaughter, Everly Faye; as well as extended family and numerous friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Mick Williams; and sister-in-law, Pattie Williams.
