The Fayette County Farm Bureau has completed and released their 2026 Crop Survey.
Overall, the numbers for corn are very similar to last year. This year’s projected yield for corn is 178.92 bushels per acre. That is down just slightly from 179.8 last year. For soybeans, the numbers are up from a year ago. This year’s projected yield for soybeans is 51.02 bushels per acre, up from 45.06 bushels per acre in 2025.
As for areas of the county, the north west area shows the strongest numbers for corn averaging 209.3 bushels per acre. The worst area was in the southwest with a projected yield of 142.2 bushels per acre. As for soybeans, the northwest again led the way with a projected yield of 62.9 bushels per acre. The low spot in the county is actually the northeast with a projected yield of 40.71 bushels per acre.
Overall, the range for corn was a high of a field with a projected yield of 297 bushels per acre and a low of 68 bushels per acre. For soybeans, the high was a field with a projected yield of 70 bushels per acre and a low of 10.8 bushels per acre.
