An Illinois state representative says residents in his district are stunned and disappointed after a judge released a man charged with illegally possessing Molotov cocktails while being unlawfully present in the United States.
Jordanian national Hamed Alsaidi, 31, was arrested on August 1st and charged with eight counts of possessing an unregistered destructive device.
State Rep. Patrick Sheehan said Mokena police and Will County prosecutors did their job by asking the judge for Alsaidi’s detainment, but Illinois’ electronic monitoring system is broken.
Alsaidi was free for two days before U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement took him into custody.
