Vandalia Fire Department handles two storage shed/garage fires this past week

The Vandalia Fire Department handled two unattached shed or garage fires this past week that were deemed total losses.

Vandalia Fire Chief Zac Stombaugh says that this past Friday evening they were paged out to a structure fire at 4th and St. Clair Streets.  He says they arrived to find a storage shed fully involved with fire.  Chief Stombaugh says crews were able to knock down the fire quickly and limit the fire extension into a nearby structure.  He says they were assisted on scene by Vandalia Police Department and Rural Med EMS.

On Saturday, Chief Stombaugh says they were paged out for a structure fire in Bluff City.  He says they arrived to find an unattached garage fully involved with fire.  He adds that no nearby structures were affected and they were assisted by the Brownstown Fire Department.
