The Vandalia School Board held a special meeting on Monday night to handle some items after not having a regular meeting in July. After a short closed session, the school board took action on several personnel-related items beginning with the acceptance of resignations from IT Director CJ Schmidt, Ag teacher and FFA advisor Brooke Benhoff, paraprofessional Sarah Rutherford and VJHS Clerk Amanda Milam. The employment of several new staff members was approved including Tierney Isbill as Cook/Custodian, McKenzie Clark as OKAW Secretary, Steve Zimmerman as Ag teacher and FFA advisor, Jason Gordon as IT Director, and Megan Moulton as VJHS Clerk. Also approved for employment were several for paraprofessional positions including Ashley Wilson, Kaitlin Beshears, Madison Schmedeke and Kaska Lash. Randy Protz was approved for lawn care for the district for $30 per hour up to 599 hours annually and district transfers were accepted for Michael Mabry from VCHS Assistant Wrestling Coach to Volunteer Wrestling Coach and for Amanda Cable from VJHS 2nd Shift Custodian to Day Shift Custodian. Also during the meeting, the school board approved the bills and the minutes from the June 18 board meeting and also approved the authorization of an OKAW Construction Contract with Jason and Stacy Mesnard.
