(Chicago, IL) — Democratic leaders in Will and Kendall counties are choosing the granddaughter of late U.S. Senator Alan Dixon to replace former state Representative Harry Benton. Jessica Dixon Heitman will fill the seat and serve as the Democrats nominee in the November general election. Benton resigned earlier this month over sexual harassment allegations. Alan Dixon represented Illinois in the U.S. Senate from 1981 to 1993.
