The Fayette County Sheriff’s Office is warning the public of a scam involving an individual identifying themselves as a Deputy.
In a social media post, the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office says they have been made aware of a scam involving an individual identifying themselves as a Fayette County Deputy. The individual claims he has a court order to “Make and Maintain Contact” and can not allow the caller to hang up until money has been deposited to take care of the warrant that has been issued by the Federal Government. The individual is utilizing a “618” area code and is sending documents that appear to be legit. If you have a warrant, a Fayette County Sheriff’s Deputy will personally come to your residence and take you to the Fayette County Jail and not to a bank as this individual is requesting.
The Fayette County Sheriff’s Office says they are currently working with Federal Authorities to identify this individual. Please contact your local Law Enforcement if you have fallen victim to this scam
