(Effingham, IL) — A man is seriously wounded in an officer involved shooting at a church in Effingham. Authorities say the incident happened yesterday morning at St. John’s Lutheran Church. Church security contacted Effingham Police to report a suspicious man inside the church wishing to speak with the pastor during a time when no church service was taking place. Officers located the man and learned he arrived in a vehicle that was reported stolen out of Marion County. They attempted to restrain the man. The suspect produced a firearm, which discharged, hitting the man, who was sent to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.
