Gov Pritzker Signs Legislation to Ban Junk Fees and Protect Consumers

(Springfield, IL) —  Illinois is making efforts to curb junk fees.  Governor Pritzker signed several bills that aim to protect Illinois consumers.

The bills ban junk fees, increase transparency in ticket pricing and curtail deceptive resale practices.  The legislation also regulates “Buy-Now-Pay-Later” lenders.  It goes into effect immediately, giving lenders until January 1st, 2028 to comply.
