The City of Vandalia will hold a special meeting this evening where their only item on the agenda will be to address the tabled potential closure of Gallatin Street for a Pride Event.
The request is to close Gallatin Street from 4th to 5th Street on Saturday, August 22nd for a downtown Pride Event. With several different reasons, the City Council agreed to table the matter at their meeting last Monday night. It was presumed the matter would be taken up at the next Vandalia City Council meeting on July 6th. But, Mayor Doug Knebel has called a special meeting for this evening to address the matter. One of the matters at last week’s meeting was those making the request for the closure were not on hand for the meeting, but they will be on hand tonight. Mayor Knebel also says that public comment will be allowed but will likely be limited to just 3 minutes for each.
The meeting will be held at 5:30 pm at Vandalia City Hall.
