
Severe Storms and Flash Flooding is possible through tonight for the entire area.
Our forecast for today call for showers and thunderstorms–mainly this afternoon–with a high of 81. Winds out of the southwest will gust better than 20 miles per hour today. Then, showers and storms tonight with a low of 63.
In the latest weather briefing from the National Weather Service in St. Louis, it states thunderstorms are likely across the area this evening and a few storms this morning could produce strong winds up to around 50 miles per hour. They add there is a better chance for severe weather in the afternoon and early evening over the area. Large hail, damaging winds, and tornadoes are all possible with the afternoon and evening storms. The timeline for our area for any severe storms begins at 12 pm today and last until 1o pm.
There is also the chance of heavy rains and flash flooding today. The NWS says thunderstorms will be capable of producing heavy rainfall that could produce flash flooding if they move repeatedly over the same location. Rainfall amounts of 1 to 3 inches are expected with locally higher amounts up to 6 inches possible.
