After tabling the matter at their meeting on Monday, the Vandalia City Council will be meeting again this coming Monday evening to address the potential street closure for an August Pride Event.
On Monday at their regular City Council meeting, the 7 Aldermen on hand (Bob Bowen was absent from the meeting) agreed to table the matter, in part to get more information from the owners of This-N-That who had requested the closure of Gallatin Street from 10 am to 10 pm on August 22nd for the Pride Event. You can read that story here.

It was presumed at that time the matter would then be further addressed at the Vandalia City Council’s next meeting on July 6th. But, Mayor Doug Knebel has called a Special Meeting for Monday at 5:30 pm. Speaking on our podcast “Talking about Vandalia,” Mayor Knebel says he would like to see the matter resolved.
And, he adds that we would like to address the matter and not have it linger over the next few weeks until the next council meeting.
As for voting, the Mayor only gets to cast a vote in case of a tie by the City Council. And, Mayor Knebel make it clear which way he would vote in that instance and gives his reasons why.
Again, there will be a special meeting to address the tabled matter on Monday at 5:30 pm at Vandalia City Hall.
